With Love and Respect: Classroom Management and Conflict Resolution
These four simple values encompass our community culture:
We Take Care of Ourselves
We Take Care of Each Other
We Take Care of Our School
We Take Care of Our Earth
We share these values with the children, and they share with them us.
Together we are aware, every day, that learning to live together as a community is as important --or even more important-- than the academic, physical, and creative sides of our selves.
And that everyone makes mistakes, including the grown-ups. We can't always remember to take care of ourselves, each other, our school, and the Earth.
Sometimes we forget.
But that's what our community is here for -- to compassionately remind each other when we have forgotten, to recognize that building and maintaining peace is hard work, and to know that our peace-building at the Dome School is a microcosm of the peace-building happening on a global scale.
What we learn here isn't circumscribed inside the edges of the Dome School; rather, it's a model for the world we want to inhabit.
